A quick heads-up from us about some changes coming to THE DOG MAN’S CHOICE® Working Dog range over the next few weeks.
First things first:
Our 15kg Working Dog bags are changing to 13.5kg.
We know the obvious reaction might be, “Hang on, where’s my other 1.5kg gone?” So rather than just changing the bags and hoping nobody notices, we wanted to explain exactly what’s happening, why it’s happening, and how we’re going to make the change work as well as we possibly can for you.
Why are the bags changing?
This isn’t a change we’ve decided to make ourselves.
Our manufacturer is introducing new packaging as part of changes around packaging, recycling and sustainability requirements. Production of the existing 15kg bags is ending and, once the remaining stock has gone, the 15kg Working Dog bags are gone too.
We expect the transition to begin during September, although we can’t give you an exact date because it will depend on when stocks of each existing recipe run out.
The good news is that the new packaging is a considerable improvement.
The new bags will be:
Fully recyclable
Resealable across all sizes
Flat-bottomed
Fitted with a viewing window
Less oil leakage and marking
Better filled and better suited to the new 13.5kg format
But there’s another BIG advantage
This is the bit we’re particularly pleased about…
Two 13.5kg bags = exactly 27kg!
That means we can send you TWO full Working Dog bags together for ONE £9.99 delivery charge.
For anyone who buys more than one bag, we genuinely think that’s a game changer. You’re getting 27kg of dog food shipped to your door for £9.99 delivery.
And it’s worth knowing that £9.99 doesn’t actually cover what it costs us to send it, we already subsidises delivery ourselves. We’ve made the decision to continue doing that because keeping delivery affordable matters to us.
It also makes sense environmentally. If you’re going to need two bags, putting the full 27kg into one shipment rather than separate deliveries is simply a more efficient way of doing it.
Four years without a food price increase
We think it’s important to mention this too.
We haven’t increased our food prices for four years.
During that time our own costs have increased – food, delivery, payment processing, insurance, website support and the general costs involved in running the service. We’ve absorbed those increases wherever we could.
So we’re working very carefully on the new 13.5kg pricing to strike the right balance: fair to you and sustainable for us, and we’ll continue doing everything we reasonably can to keep both the food and delivery competitively priced.
If you’re on a subscription, don’t worry
We’ll work through the changes as the new bags become available.
If anything needs changing with your subscription, or you’re unsure what to order, just ask us. We’ll help you through it and keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

Some of you have bought THE DOG MAN’S CHOICE® from us for the entire lifetime of your dogs, that’s not unusual for us.
We have an incredibly loyal customer base, and we never take that for granted.
We answer questions seven days a week, we have professional support behind the website to keep everything running smoothly, and when there’s a problem we do our utmost to sort it.
There is a cost involved in providing that level of service, but we wouldn’t want to run THE DOG MAN’S CHOICE® any other way.
So, for now… Keep ordering as normal.
The 15kg Working Dog bags are still available while stocks last. As individual recipes run out, they’ll start being replaced by the new 13.5kg Working Dog bags.
